Payment Extension Plan

(Fine Hearing)*

The Ottawa County Municipal Court Payment Extension Plan gives defendants the opportunity to make interest-free payments to the Court when the balance is not able to be paid in full at the time of sentencing.

Rules

  1. If you have unpaid fines and court costs, you must appear IN PERSON the first Friday of each month at 9:00 am in the main courtroom until your fines and costs are paid in full.
  2. OR, make a minimum payment of $50.00 per month to the Court. Each monthly payment will continue you to the following month’s fine hearing. YOU MUST MAKE EACH PAYMENT PRIOR TO 9:00 AM ON FINE HEARING DAY. (You do NOT have to appear in person to make payments.)
  3. If you do not appear in Court and you do not make a payment, a letter will be sent to your last known address. You will have two weeks from the date of this letter to have your fines and Court costs paid in FULL.

Failure to appear in Court for a scheduled hearing may be contempt of Court and a bench warrant may be issued. Contempt is punishable by up to 30 days in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00. Driving privileges may also be cancelled through the BMV.

*Only applicable to finished cases where a signed agreement is on file with the Court. Full payment is required if you wish to waive a ticket in lieu of appearing in Court. See the Waiver Schedule for amounts.
